His language at times is rougher — not any less charismatic, but the words he chooses to use are grittier. And he's stopped acting like he needs permission to do what he wants to do. After they fought at the hanger, Steve realized something incredibly important. There is no higher human authority. Not SHIELD. Not the U.S. government. There is only your own moral compass and ability to believe in people. As long as he follows that, he's appealing to the highest authority he knows. ]
